RSIME has been a national leader in railroad derailment investigations since our inception as a subset to Rail Sciences, Inc. (RSI).  We specialize in determining the root cause of the derailment and then recommend changes to prevent further derailments.  It is a tremendous challenge to determine the cause of a derailment due to the high amounts of damage and debris.  Causes of derailments can range from human error to railcar or track component failures.  We at RSIME use our failure analysis and engineering expertise to investigate a derailment and help determine the chain of events that caused the accident.  Below are a few pictures of past derailments we have investigated.
