RSIME LS-DYNA Projects: Grease Seal Stamping Model

A tapered roller bearing grease seal was modeled using LS-DYNA to reproduce the steel stamping operation.  This was accomplished by first modeling the flat blank between the punch and die.  As the punch pressed into the blank, which deformed into the shape of the die.  This model can then be used to accurately predict the final shape of a stamped sheet component, including the springback.  Profiles of the punch and die can also be adjusted to produce an ideal stamped shape.  Residual stresses can also be predicted through this model.
