RSIME Testing Services: Microstructural Evaluations

A materials' properties and performance are directly related to the materials' microstructure. RSIME can perform full microstructural evaluations including preparing, etching and analyzing samples.  RSIME can then analyze the microstructure and determine: 

• A materials' compliance with applicable specifications (ex.: identify pearlite, ferrite, austenite, bainite and martensite)
• Look for indications of improper heat treatment
• Look for indications of  the improper application of high localized heat (ex.: arc strikes that have occurred during welding operations).
• Analyze the heat-affected zone (HAZ) in welds and check for proper penetration and good weld quality.
