Large Equipment Failure Analysis

A major advantage RSIME has is the ability to handle large equipment failures.  We have available lifting and cutting equipment needed for large component failure analysis.  Pictured below is Hans Iwand getting down and dirty cutting a failed, large shaft from a food processing customer.  For this particular case, he used exothermic cutting rods, which are faster than an oxy-acetylene torch cutting.  Cutting was done so make smaller, more easily manageable specimens to inspect the fractured surfaces.  Hans first inspected the shaft then starts the exothermic cutting process.  After cutting was completed, Dave McConnell helps Hans inspect the progress.
